I'm back...

So maybe once a week was a little ambitious. Unfortunately my camera is dead (and I have yet to charge it), so no new pictures :( Well, here's what we've been up to...

I officially started my business Scrap n' Sassy. I have been to one school so far, and am planning on going to a few others. I also have set up a carnival to sell at. Slowly but surely the word will get out, and I'll get busier. For now, I like this once every few weeks thing, because it is my hobby... not job. If it becomes a job, it won't be fun anymore.

Zach goes out of town every now and then, and many of you know that when Zach is gone I usually head to Kingwood complete with a Tahoe filled with diapers, dog, Braeden, strollers, suitcases, toys, etc... all for a night, maybe 2! Well, NO MORE...I'm a big girl, so it's time to start acting like one. Not going to lie, the first few times were hard, but it seems to be a lot easier each time. Braeden has a hard time when Daddy is gone, but now he just always tells me "Daddy work", and he doesn't freak out when Zach isn't home to put him in bed.

Braeden seems to be learning new things DAILY. Here's what he's been doing the last month:

He figured out how to climb into the kitchen chair, and one day got in it while I was making him lunch. So, no more high chair, and we skipped the booster seat. B is a big boy now!

He is also VERY interested in this whole potty thing. I know this sounds weird, but I do NOT encourage it. However, he is very persistent, so I finally bought a little potty for him to try out. I let him go occassionally and everytime he goes "pee pee in the potty." Once we get back from our trip to Mexico in April, I will go a little more full force in this department. What's really funny is that when he is done going "potty", he grabs some toilet paper and fake blows his nose and flushes it down the toilet... just like his Daddy. It is hilarious!

Braeden is in love with the new sport of the season (and Zach's favorite), baseball. He got a baseball tee set for his first birthday last May, but wasn't quite ready (i.e, I was not ready for broken things and dents in the wall). Well, I finally took it out and set it up in the backyard. He LOVED hitting the ball off of the tee, but it was not enough for him. He wanted to hit the ball out of the air, and he did! Only now that's the only way he'll play, and he will follow you around the house dragging his bat and carrying the ball, waiting for me to play baseball. Can get annoying, but is oh-so cute...especially when he puts his arms out and tells me "hug". How could I resist?! He definitely has a knack for sports, so we'll see where he goes with it. My bets are on a future shortstop. Probably not going to be tall enough to follow in the family position of pitcher, but who knows.

His newest "trick" is climbing on top of the table. Today I was making him a "cheese" aka, grilled cheese sandwich aka, the everyday lunch. I had turned on the Fresh Beat Band to keep him entertained while I was fixing lunch. I look over after a few minutes, and Mr. B had stood up in the chair and was marching along with the show, so cute....but SO unsafe. So I told him to sit down and went back to sandwich making. Not even a minute later, I turn around and now he is not only standing, but he is standing on top of the TABLE! He thought he was so funny...ahh little boys :)

That's about it for now. Zach is turning 30 this Saturday, so check back soon for an update on how that all goes. I promise to post some pics soon.

Goodnight!

Happy Valentine's Weekend!

What a weekend! Friday, we went out to eat as a family at Lupe Tortilla...Braeden LOVES their flautas since it's a big "chip" that he can dip into queso :) We never leave that place clean, but happy and full nonetheless! Not to mention, they have great margaritas!

Saturday, we spent our day cleaning up with the windows open, and Braeden and Tex played outside ALL DAY... It was such perfect weather! Later, my mom graciously came and watched Braeden while Zach and I went out on our date. We orignally planned to eat at Tommy Bahama's in Market Street and then go to a movie... but at 5:15 the wait was already an HOUR, and our movie was at 7 (that I had already bought tickets for). So we waited about 30-45 min... did a little shopping, then headed back to Tommy B's, only to find out we probably wouldn't get a table until 6:45! So, we had to settle for a nice Valentine's dinner at Berryhill :) A step up from last year's dinner at Skeeter's, but that's another story. After 2 course romantic dinner, we headed to the movies to see... Valentine's Day! How appropriate! It actually was really cute, not a movie that I would want to see after Valentine's Day, but once every other year would be fine.

We started off the REAL Valentine's Day on Sunday by going to church. I knew it was going to be a good day when we left the house on time! I HATE being late to church, because we have to bring Braeden to the nursery and by the time we get into the sanctuary we have missed a lot, not to mention you have to ask people to move so you can sit down, and that to me is so embarrassing... anyways, we didn't have to do that this week :) In addition to being on time, it was so pretty outside... bright blue skies, warm sun, and a nice cool breeze. After church we went to lunch a Potbelly...not such a great experience. Their food is good, but NOT kid friendly. We ordered Braeden a PBJ sandwich and had to send it back it was so messy with jelly oozing everywhere. The next sandwich with light PBJ was still a mess. Fortunately B had fallen asleep so we didn't have to worry about finding another option. After an afternoon at Market Street with Braeden asleep in his stroller, we headed home so Zach could do s little yard work. Of course, Braeden wanted to help :) That night, Zach grilled filet mignon's...and they were FABULOUS! It has been a long time since we have made those at home, and hope it's not another year before we do that again!

That's about it...a nice low key, but fun-filled weekend with my family! I hope you had a great V-day as well!
Below is a pic of the flowers that Zach got me... he's finally learning that I don't like the usual type things, meaning red long stem roses. They're pretty, just too ordinary. Instead I like an arrangement of different flowers in colors that go with the house :) He did a great job as usual...I'm a lucky girl to have such a wonderful, thoughtful hubby!

Let's try this again...

Well I figure 3rd times a charm, right? I have tried doing the blog/website thing twice before, and failed miserably to keep up with it. So here I am, re-motivated to try again. My goal is to post something at least once a week, so here goes nothing...

How about a quick recap of what's been going on the past year...

Braeden turned 1 in May 2009, and in just a few months he will be celebrating his 2nd birthday! He is a walking (running), talking, total toddler! He is very independent and knows what he wants...wonder where he gets that from?! He is quite the sports fanatic. Braeden knew how to say football and touchdown before he ever attempted mama- nice! His room is painted in a jungle mural with animals playing different sports (thanks to his Aunt Steph). He wakes up every morning and goes over ever sport being played in his room...it's really cute! We don't go many places without somekind of ball in hand, and don't even think about taking it away unless you have earplugs handy. Not only does he love the thought of sports and to watch them, but he is REALLY good at throwing balls too, especially a football. There aren't many 21 month olds that can spiral a football, not to mention he was doing that at 9 months old! Watching Braeden grow and develop his own personality has been so much fun!

For those who didn't know, we sold our townhouse around Christmas of 2008, and built a new house in Creekside Park (a village in The Woodlands). We moved in January 2009, and just celebrated one year here. It has been the perfect home for Braeden to play, Tex to run, and a nice new canvas for me to decorate! Check in frequently as I post new things that I've done in the house. We LOVE living here!

I think that's it...oh wait, there is one more thing...

Zach will be turning 30 next month...wow is he getting old! j/k, he's just getting mature, I think :)

Till next time... I'm off to bed!
