Gage is here!

Gage Hampton is finally here, and just in time for Christmas! He was born December 16th at 6:35pm via c-section. He weighed 7lbs 2oz and was 19 in long (we later have figured out that he was likely longer than that...)

So here's how it all went down:

I had a doctor's appointment Thursday December 16th. While there I started to feel what I thought were contractions. When the doctor came in I didn't say anything right away. She did the exam and told me I was already 3 cm dilated which was quite a change from the week before. We decided to schedule a c-section for the next day (he was still breech) so that I didn't go into labor. Well, right about that time I felt another contraction and the doctor put her hand on my stomach to feel. I told her I had one just like that before she came in. I then mentioned to her that I had had a few other labor signs scattered throughout the week. So, she had me go to the lobby and time my contractions to see if they were consistent. Well, they were! They went from 12 min- 10-7-3. I went back to her office and she told me to head over to Labor and Delivery and that we were having the baby tonight, probably around 8.

Did I mention that I had Braeden with me?! I told Zach to stay home because I was sure nothing was going to happen, and I wanted B to be with me so he could get last minute things done around the house. Oops! I called Zach to meet me, but he still had to get bags together and then drive down to the medical center (a good 45 min away). No big deal I thought, the c-section wasn't till 8 and it was about 3:30. I had Braeden in his stroller and I got hooked up to the monitors. After a little while the nurse told me she wanted to take him out and let him roam the room, so now we had a 2 1/2 year old on the loose :) Braeden was loving the freedom! He also enjoyed watching the nurse put in my iv and draw some blood. He thought it was "cool". We might have a future doctor on our hands...

While on the monitor the nurse informed me that my contractions were much closer together than I had thought. They were 2-3 minutes apart! So, the c-section was moved to 6 or 6:30. Great, only no one was there yet and it was now 5:30. At this point I am sure that I am going to have to leave Braeden with some other nurses (who were excited to do it...B is such a ladies man!), but it still made me a little nervous. I am also fearing that Zach won't make it because he is stuck in Houston rush hour traffic. Fortunately my dad works nearby and Zach's brother was about 20 minutes away. A little before 6:00, Zach comes rushing in, a few minutes later my dad, and then Cole (who had the lollipops for Braeden...he had been asking for them every 5 minutes since we got there). Soon after, I was wheeled into the operating room. They went ahead and checked me, and I had dilated to 5 almost 6 cm at this point....ahhh! Good thing I didn't go home and wait for the next day :) Things went really fast from here, and at 6:35 pm Gage was born! He weighed a mere 7lbs 2oz, and was 19 in long...just a little guy!

Pictures, pictures, and more pictures...

WARNING: This post has a TON of pictures in it, so it's long :)

Many of you probably know this about me, but for those that don't...I LOVE pictures! Unfortunately I am only ok at taking my own, so thankfully I have a couple of friends that are great at it. Stephanie Shirley is a good friend of mine that started her business over a year ago, and she takes great pics! She has 3 boys of her own, so taking a picture of one boy is a piece of cake for her, plus Braeden is a big fan of Ms. Steph :) I decided to have her take some pumpkin (or as B calls it "punkin") patch pics of my little man. They turned out so cute! Check out her website: http://www.stephanieshirley.com/

This is my favorite! He was giving Ms. Steph kisses- lol!!

Another friend of mine, Joyelle Wright, has been taking Braeden's pictures since he was 3 months old. I actually found her when I was looking for a local photographer to take B's pics as a baby, and come to find out we went to high school together. Not just that, but we both used the same photographer for our own weddings, and we had kiddos only a couple of months apart- crazy! Anyhow, she has always taken amazing pics of Braeden and our family :) We did a session with her a few weeks ago for our Christmas cards and a few maternity pics. We went to Mercer Arboretum, and they turned out great! Check out her website: http://www.photographybyjoyelle.com/

Last but not least (I told you there were a lot of pics), Braeden had his school pictures a few weeks ago and we just got them back this week. His teacher told me that he was quite a ham in front of the camera, which was no suprise to me. I always sing the song to him "You're so vein..." because when someone is taking a picture of him, he always wants to see the picture after it's taken-haha! They actually turned out cute for school pics.

Thanksgiving Feast...

Braeden's preschool had their Thanksgiving Feast this past Monday. It was so cute to see him with all of his little friends. They were all a bit "star struck" when they saw the moms and dads there, so needless to say, there was not a whole lot of eating going on (at least that was the case for Mr. B). Here are a few pics from the day. They had quite the spread: chick-fil-a nuggets, fruit, mac n' cheese, juice box, and a cookie :)
